Understanding consent statuses:

  • OPT_OUT- sets automatically if a contact marks an email message as spam, clicks the Unsubscribe link or sends in a stop keyword.
  • OPT_IN_UNVERIFIED - applies to double opt-ins pending verification
  • null - no consent value has been set, but there is a valid addressable value detected for the channel.

Some rules concerning implicit consent:

  • If at least one consent group within a channel is set to OPT_INfor a contact, the whole channel acquires the OPT_IN status for that contact.

  • If a contact is added to an audience with an addressable email, their status in the Email channel is automatically set to OPT_IN. The rule does not apply to phone numbers.
